Virtual Show 2020 Results

Virtual Show 2020 Results

Results for the Virtual Show are now posted on the Results page, and rosettes will be posted out to winners w/c 13 July. We had a wonderful entry, many more than we thought we would get and I would like to thank everyone that took part, and our Judge, Mrs Evelyn Wray, who gave up her time to judge all the entries which was no small job, but a very enjoyable one.

The standard of entries was very high, and was easily as good as a normal breed show. Everyone had taken the time and effort to get their ponies ready, and themselves dressed in their showing gear to present to camera. I was particularly impressed by the standard of presentation of the grey ponies, all of whom were spotless and gleaming.
We are hoping to upload the winning videos to YouTube shortly, with a link from our website.

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales has renewed his patronage of the Society

The Dales Pony Society is proud to announce that His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales has renewed his patronage of the Society for a further term. We are delighted to have the support of His Royal Highness for our wonderful ponies, particularly at such a difficult time for many members and their families. The visit by His Royal Highness to see the ponies and meet members during our Centenary Celebrations remains a highlight of our history and will be long remembered.

Summer Show Cancellation – Message from the Chair

Summer Show Cancellation – Message from the Chair

It is with great regret that Council has taken the decision to cancel The Summer Breed Show, but it was the only course to take.

Along with many others in the same position we must put most of this year’s showing season behind us and look forward with optimism to next year.

I hope that you are staying safe and that it won’t be too long before we can begin to meet again. In the meantime at least we have our ponies to keep us going and to give us some breathing space away from day to day worries.

2020 Breeding Season – Travelling Mares to Stud

2020 Breeding Season – Travelling Mares to Stud

Following advice from the Rare Breeds Survival Trust concerning the effect COVID 19 movement restrictions have on the 2020 breeding season for rare breed equines, the Society has produced a protocol and template forms for our breeders to use if they need to travel a mare to a stallion for covering during the current restrictions. Use of this protocol and forms, while not mandatory, is strongly advised in order to comply with current government restrictions on curbing the spread of coronavirus and as evidence of a legitimate controlled journey by the transporter of the mare(s) if challenged by the authorities.

Please find the protocol and forms on the Policies page

Coronavirus Event Cancellations

Coronavirus Event Cancellations

Due to the worsening situation with Coronavirus, the Society has taken the decision to cancel all Society events and meetings until the end of May. This decision has not been taken lightly but we must follow the advice of health experts and not put lives at risk. The events cancelled are:

  • The North Roadshow on April 5th – to be rescheduled for the Autumn
  • The Judges Assessment Day on April 13th – to be rescheduled for the Autumn
  • The Spring Show on May 2nd – the Olympia semi final class will be moved to the Summer Show
  • The South Roadshow on May 10th – to be rescheduled for the Autumn

This is a worrying time and we must all do what we can to help limit the spread of this virus, and keep our families, friends and members as safe as possible. The situation is being constantly monitored and the Society website will be updated when there is further news.
