Shows and Events
The Dales Pony Society runs several shows a year. These are open to members only. Information on how to join is on the Membership page.
The Spring Stallion & Breed show is typically held on the first Saturday in May near Barnard Castle, Co Durham.
The Summer Breed show is normally held on the first Saturday in August near Barnard Castle, Co Durham.
The Foal Show is held on the morning of the AGM, which is usually the second Saturday of November, in Barnard Castle, Co Durham.
There are also a number of regional breed shows held each year.
Schedules for these events are sent to all members automatically and can be found on the event listings below when they become available.
Points Competitions and Special Awards
The Society offer the opportunity for County and agricultural shows across the Country to apply to become an Affiliated Show, where members of the Society can win special rosettes. Click here for a full list of Affiliated Shows.
Stallion Premiums are awarded each year, with points being collected by progeny of licensed stallions at specific shows throughout the year. For more information and a list of shows where points are obtained click here.
A Performance Points Competition is held which any member can apply to, with points collected at just about any event you can think of. A test of the true 'Great All Rounder', there are some fantastic trophies and prizes up for grabs each year. Download the entry form here.
Qualifiers for the highly sought after title of 'Dales Pony Society Ridden Pony of the Year' are held across the Country, with the final being held in October. Prize money and sashes are up for grabs, please find a list of shows and further information here.

Entry Form Definitions
The following definitions apply when making entries for DPS shows.
- Owner: The person whose name appears in the passport and stud book
- Exhibitor: The person who makes the entry to the show
- Handler/Rider: The person who is handling or riding the pony in the ring
The Exhibitor needs to be a paid-up Full Member. The Handlers and Riders need to be paid-up Members.
