DPS Young Committee
The Dales Pony Society set up the Young Committee in June 2012. Our first meeting held at the Parish Hall, Barnard Castle and brought together young members of the Society committed to the breed. Over the last 3 years the Young Committee has organised a range of successful events from a Native Pony Extravaganza, to stud visits and open meetings.
The Young Committee works with the following aims in mind:
- To represent the views of the younger DPS membership to the DPS Council.
- To gain an understanding of the work of the Dales Pony Society Council.
- To prepare younger DPS members for standing for election to council in the future.
- To propose and organise events suitable for younger members.

You can now stay in touch with the DPS Young Committee using our brand new Facebook page, just search Dales Pony Society Under 35s. Upcoming events will be listed on the page and we love to hear what young members have been getting up to with their ponies! The Young Committee is still organising events for the Dales Pony Society. All young members of the DPS (under 35) are welcome to our events, please ensure under 18s are accompanied by an adult. We also occasionally hold events for all members of the Society. You do not need to be a Young Committee member to attend the events, but if anybody is interested in the Young Committee's work please do get in touch!
Langrigg Cup
The DPS Young Committee annually asks DPS members to nominate their DPS Young Achiever of the Year. All nominees are presented with a rosette marking their achievements at the yearly DPS AGM meeting, with the winner being presented with the Langrigg Cup. Any young member (Full or Junior under 35 years) of the society may be nominated, who has done something great with their Dales Pony in that year.
The DPS Young Committee has arranged a How to Show Clinic at the Richmond Equestrian Centre on 23 April 2017. Please see attached flyer for details.
