Highcroft Ella - a very successful year

Previous

Highcroft Ella

Foaled in 2000, by Sunnybrowe Prince, out of Whitworth Bella.

On Sunday 6 July 2008 Highcroft Ella was exhibited at the Royal Show by J Daley & Son, and shown in the In-hand Dales classes by Lee Daley. There was expectation that Ella would do well in the Dales classes, but by mid-afternoon she had won the Dales Pony Championship, and then gone on to take the Supreme Mountain & Moorland championship of the show, a sash and title never even contemplated when leaving home at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning. It was an honour for the pony, the breeder of 40 years, and the Dales Pony Society, as I don't believe a Dales Pony has ever been Supreme Champion at the Royal Show before.

Foaled in 2000, Ella won the DPS foal cup and has won major trophies and championships every year since. In 2008 she was champion at Sedgefield, St. John's Chapel and Egglestone, also taking the senior geld mare titles at both the DPS Breed shows. Ella was one of Sunnybrowe Prince's first crop of foals and was out of Whitworth Bella. These two ponies have also produced Highcroft April, Highcroft Paddy and Highcroft Jake, all ponies which have won championships. Ella was broken to ride in 2008, and we are hoping to see her enjoy further success as a brood mare in the future, as she is hopefully in foal to Lee Daley's champion stallion, Westwick William.
